PRACTICE AREA
The new Pitching green is now open, members need to use this facility correctly, there are
6 fl ags that allow 6 players to use it at any one time, there is no restriction on how many
players can use the facility but common sense and courteous to other players should be
used.
All members need to respect the practice area, other users on it, safety on it and our
boundaries. We can install signage with guidelines and rules but members should use
common sense in this area please.
COURSE CARE
The email below received from a member says it all about course care and how SOME
of our members treat our golf course! This refers to the greens but could easily apply to
bunkers and divots on the fairways.
“To whom it may concern,
I congratulate all in Malahide GC for the outstanding success of the 125th celebrations
yesterday. Unfortunately, I could not attend but reports suggest that it was a memorable
occasion.
I teed it up fi rst thing this am and was appalled at the number of pitch marks on every
green as we played our round. I must have repaired at least six fresh marks per hole (over
ten in some instances) and I very reluctantly report this as it refl ects poorly on my fellow
playing members - green fees/guests/societies cannot take the rap alas!
I actually gave up at one stage repairing pitch marks in exasperation of the volume of work
involved and attempt to put a score together, in which I failed miserably.
Colm and his staff do so much unforeseen and thankless work that this lack of respect by
so many of our members is sad to say the least. The course remains in great Condition and
gives me, for one, a great sense of pride in being a Malahide GC member.”
