CLUB JUNIOR SECTION
Maura Walsh Cup This team was managed
by John McGarry. This competition caters for
players in the 15-28 handicap range and is for
those who have not already played on inter-club
team competitions. It provides a platform
for those junior golfers to aspire towards
representing the Club in the future. In the final
event on Saturday 2nd September our slender
lead of ½ point, garnered over four events,
was overtaken by Clontarf Golf Club and we
finished in runners up place – beaten by a ½
point by the host club.
Panel was Billy Irwin, Jack Irwin, Joey Irwin, Eric
Jerkland, Adam Jones Campbell, Matthew
Jones Campbell, Eoghan Clarke, Niall Moclair,
Tom Dunne, Sean Guiden, Daire de Burca,
Conall de Burca, Jack Quinn, Jack Kehoe,
Shane Archer, Hugh Duncan, Lee Morris Along
with the above, one of our young talented
golfers, Gavin O’Neill, became an All Ireland
Champion at under 13 level, over a two day
competition in Mayo during the Summer.
Child Safeguarding: During the year we
created a Child Safeguarding policy for the
Club which is an important and necessary
policy to have in place. The new Designated
Liason Person (DLP) is Catherine Hennessy and
the Deputy DLP’s are John McGarry & Janet
Lambe. All relevant personell have completed
Gárda Vetting. A copy of this policy is now
on the Club website and is also available for
inspection in the Office.

Junior Captains’ prizes played and on that
evening we had our Junior Dinner, which was
attended by President Paddy, Captain Eamonn
& Captain Maura. Presentations were made

Portmarnock Boys Invitational Tournament:
On Monday 21st August, two of our Juniors,
Gavin O’Neill & Ryan Gibson played in the
Portmarnock Boys Invitational Tournament in
Portmarnock GC and acquitted themselves and
the Club very well.
Overall, it was a very successful season for our
Juniors and I feel there is both enthuasism
and talent amongst our Juniors, which, with
continued support and motivation, bodes well
for Malahide Golf Club into the future.
