Malahide Golf Club FORE! Spring Edition 2017 Our 125th year celebrations started with our Drive in. Well done to Captains Eamonn and Maura for hosting such a great day, aided by Junior Captains Karl and Aisling. I wish them every success in this historic year. The Mayor of Fingal Darragh Butler, in a brief address at the Drive In, praised all who volunteer to help run our club. We all look forward to the reopening of our Blue Nine in the summer and to hosting the Leinster Finals of the Men’s Senior Cup. We hope to be in contention. Men take note! I know Sue Byrne our Social convenor and her committee have planned many exciting events throughout the year. I hope you will join in. In this special year, we recall and acknowledge the great work of our committed members who over the years overcame so many hurdles to get us to where we are today. Many are no longer with us. All of them are remembered at our Annual Memorial Service. As you know the club has adopted as its Vision: “To be the Best Members Club in Dublin, with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere“. In mapping out the road to realising this Vision, the club has, with the assistance our Strategy Committee, formulated a 5 Year Strategic Plan. It will be the job of our 2017 Management Committee to take the club along some of this journey. And you the members will have a major role to play as custodians of our “special Malahide welcome” and in volunteering to help out. As was signalled at our last AGM, we will this year propose new Governance Structures for the club in line with best practice. A special EGM will be called for this purpose and to address our planned capital expenditure for 2017 and the next 5 years. We have great committees assembled for this historic year and I look forward to working with them all, to serve you the members.
