Fore Magazine Course Report July 2015 Some of the major projects in 2015 that were completed are as follows: 1. Woodlands: Planting of beech, oak and scots pine trees inside two lines of trees between the 7th and 8th yellow holes to form an extended woodland area running from behind the 6th yellow green. 2. Green keepers Shed: This required reroofing and walls were painted to improve it appearance. Also a major clean-up of the maintenance yard was carried out, which dramatically improved its appearance and increased the usable amount of space. 3. Bridges: Four stone bridges were built to replace the existing sleeper ones which became a health and safety issue when flooding occurred in that area. 4. Drainage: Remedial drainage was carried out on all known remaining areas and this work completed an extensive drainage programme undertaken over the past number of years. 5. Weir: A new weir was built in the pond to replace the old one, which had been washed away. This new weir allows for better control and also means more water can be sent across the course. In conclusion, the aim going forward is to continuously improve course quality and performance while reducing inputs and costs and eventually bringing the course to a new level.
